According to Dars forecasts, work is set to begin on Monday on the complete renovation of the Štajerska Highway section located between Slovenske Konjice and Dramljami. The work will be carried out by Pomgrad, CGP, and Iskra under a contract worth 61.6 million euros, excluding tax. The activities related to the project are expected to last until 2026. The work is anticipated to start on Monday on the right edge of the lane towards Ljubljana, from the Slovenske Konjice junction to the Golo rebro tunnel. These will take place in roadside areas for approximately 1.5 kilometers, as Dars announced this week. Since two-lane traffic will be maintained, no significant changes in traffic flow are expected.
It was emphatically stated that large-scale work is to begin in the spring season next year. According to Dars's statement, the main work, which will significantly impact traffic, is scheduled to occur in tunnels and viaducts during the summer months of 2025 and 2026. During this time, traffic will be two-way on one side of the motorway, with one lane in each direction. Meanwhile, work will continue in areas where closing the tunnels is unnecessary, allowing traffic to proceed in two narrowed lanes in both directions. Dars does not expect major traffic disruptions during this period. The reconstruction of the Štajerska Highway section between Slovenske Konjice and Dramljami will be conducted by Pomgrad in collaboration with partner companies CGP and Iskra.
The contractual value of the project, signed this September, is 61.6 million euros excluding VAT. The full renovation covers the mentioned section, which includes a total of 13 kilometers of road surface towards Ljubljana and Maribor, encompassing the renewal of drainage systems and the inner linings of the tunnels in the Pletovarje and Golo rebro branches, the construction of forced ventilation systems in each tunnel's pipelines, and the creation of escape routes in existing crossings in the Pletovarje and Golo rebro tunnels. The renovation will also include replacing low-voltage equipment, upgrading control systems in the tunnels, and repairing the Škedenj I, Škedenj II, and Grapa structures. Additionally, noise protection barriers will be installed along the section between Slovenske Konjice and Dramljami. According to Dars's report, last year the average daily traffic on this highway section amounted to 52,500 vehicles, including 6,500 commercial vehicles traveling in both directions.
